East Hampton Town
Democratic Committee
1997 Trustee Campaign, Thanks
Well it seems that
this year's election was successful in providing sweeping change.
Supervisor Cathy Lester retained her seat and the Town Board is once again
Democratically controlled, and, pending a count of mail-in votes, the Board
of Trustees will also be Democratically controlled by a 5-to-4 margin.
It's a tremendous victory for the Democrats and speaks loudly to all those
issues discussed in the campaign. I'd like to heartilly congratulate
in particular, Trustee candidates, Dianne Mamay, Gordon Vorphal, Jim McCaffrey,
Josh Edwards, Richard Lester, Harold Bennett, Martin Bennett, Mary Gardiner
and either Bill Mott, Frank Kennedy or Pete Kromer. Bill, it seems,
is on the bubble pending the mail-in vote count. All have been true
gentlemen and ladies during this campaign of real issues and I am honored
to have met them and the other candidates and to be a small part of our
Democratic process. To the 3092 residents that voted for me, from
the bottom of my heart, thank you. I'm sorry to say that I don't
know most of you but you are apparently familiar with me. All I can
say is that I'm not going away. I'll be back after learning a little
more, maybe on the Planning Board or ZBA, and we'll try this again in four
years or so. Or maybe the Town Board? Hmmmm. :-)
